Heliodoor Finishes 2023 on a High by Winning Award at The Altos: A Celebration of Diversity and Excellence
Director Leah Musana with one of the CEO’s of AltoVita Vivi Himmel
Winning an industry award is an all-time high for Heliodoor Apartments and it was a fantastic way to end an unsettled year.
The Alto Awards recognise and celebrate best effort in hospitality, with an emphasis on innovation and the highest standards of quality. The event was not only a recognition ceremony, but also an opportunity for industry leaders to share insights and engage in networking whilst creating a vibrant community within the world of corporate housing.
We were thrilled to be recognised and awarded ‘Best Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiative’ as this is very close to our hearts here at Heliodoor. Right from the beginning our business has naturally attracted teams and partners with diverse DEI needs and has organically adapted to meet their requirements.
Our small yet mighty team comprises individuals who, due to various reasons, require more flexibility than traditional workplaces offer. With a fully remote team from different backgrounds and ethnicities, our work environment not only fosters positivity but also cultivates creativity and innovation. To win an award that directly recognises the difference we are making only inspires us to do more.
Heliodoor’s Driving Force
At the core of Heliodoor’s success is its driving force, Leah Musana. A mother who had struggled with balancing the demands of a fast-paced corporate career and the needs of her family. Having a disabled son added an extra layer of challenge to her role in the city.
Additionally, perhaps due to her own personal experience, Leah is acutely aware of the importance of making sure that all our guests feel welcome and included. As a result, we are constantly striving to offer accessible homes, with the majority of our properties being fully accessible. However, our goal is to go beyond this by providing homes that are not only fully accessible but also adapted to meet the various accessibility needs.
Heliodoor Apartments strives for equity in everything we do and we are committed to providing an inclusive environment, both within the business and for our valuable guests.
AltoVita and Corporate Accommodation

Leah with award presenters
Reflecting on the achievement, founder Leah Musana expressed her gratitude for the team’s hard work and commitment. The award ceremony at the elegant Landing FortyTwo in London not only marked a personal triumph, but a collective one for the Heliodoor team. The evening also provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with other professionals who are also shaping the corporate accommodation industry.
The Heliodoor team is excited to continue working closely with global partners such as AltoVita going forward. Gaining recognition is just not an accumulation of awards, but a springboard for us to reach new heights in 2024 and beyond! As we continue to prioritise diversity, equity and inclusion for our team, business partners and valuable clients, we plan to make an even more profound impact in the serviced accommodation space.
