The Natural History Museum (Tring)
This is a free museum packed with exhibits and fun activities for all ages. The Royal Air Force Museum (Edgware)
If you have a plane enthusiast in your family then a trip to the Royal Air Force Museum is a must! They have a Horrible Histories event taking place this summer where children can learn all about the history of flight, from the disasters to the triumphs, to the downright stupid!
Wendover Woods Gruffalo Trail (Aylesbury)
This popular trail goes through the Wendover Woods which has stunning views across the Chiltern Hills. You’ll find easy-access trails, a cafe, barbeque spots, and much more. This is a great affordable day out for the whole family.
Gullivers Land Theme Park (Milton Keynes)
If you’re looking for some adventure this summer then why not plan a trip to Gullivers Land Theme Park in Milton Keynes? They are currently offering reduced-price tickets for an afternoon at the park (between 2pm-5pm) making this great if you have little ones who can’t manage the whole day.
Parks Trust Activities (Milton Keynes)
Parks Trust has a whole host of summer activities for families, including nature days, stories in the park and Roman Day! You can find all the details on the website as well as lots of free activities too. And if you’re just looking for a park to picnic in then you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Big Rock Climbing (Milton Keynes)
You don’t need to have any rock climbing experience to enjoy a supervised rope climbing session as a family at Big Rock Climbing. This is a unique and exciting family experience!
TeamSport Indoor Karting (Watford)
Fancy zooming around in a go kart? For ages 8 and above, TeamSport Indoor Karting in Watford is a family day out for the thrill seekers! With speeds of up to 40mph on a 500m track, this is a fun filled family day.
Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Park (Watford)
Any Ninja Warrior fans in your home? Inspired by ITV’s hit TV show, this adventure park is one of a kind! You can climb, balance, jump and swing across different obstacles, and it even has a warped wall for you to conquer! The adventure park is for ages 5+
Harry Potter Studio Tour London, Warner Bros (Watford)
We couldn’t not mention the Harry Potter Studio Tour – this popular attraction is a great day out for any Potter fans and this summer there is a new feature for the tour ‘Discovering Hogwarts’. Explore the early years of Hogwarts with some of your favourite scenes brought to life.
The Snow Centre (Hemel Hempstead) and Snozone (Milton Keynes)
If the heat gets a bit much this summer then why not try a session at either of these indoor ski centres. They host the UK’s largest indoor ski slope for lessons as well. Go as a family, or sign your kids up for some summer sessions (details about these on the website).
Willows Activity Farm (St Albans)
This farm is the perfect place for little ones with it’s summer program including appearances from Peter Rabbit and his friends daily on the Outdoor Show Stage! The adventure playground is made for imaginative play and includes lots of sensory play too! There’s also a tractor ride and animals to keep children occupied all day long.
Paradise Wildlife Park (Broxbourne)
Voted Hertfordshire’s Best Attraction, this is a wildlife park you don’t want to miss! There are over 800 animals to discover and see. You’ll also find a ‘World of Dinosaurs’ with over 40 life-sized moving dinosaurs. Over the summer the park is holding ‘Summer Evenings at the Zoo’ (Fridays & Saturdays) with live entertainment, street food and much more!
